In a directive issued on March 1, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) instructed all intermediaries or platforms that the utilization of under-tested or unreliable AI models, large language models, or generative AI software “must be authorized explicitly by the Government of India” and “implemented only after adequately labeling the potential and inherent inaccuracies or unreliability of the generated output.”
