Amidst turmoil within the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), a group of 22 party leaders have collectively submitted their resignations, citing frustration over being overlooked for tickets in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Prominent figures among those who have resigned include former LJP minister Renu Kushwaha, ex-MLA and national general secretary of LJP, Satish Kumar, state organization minister Ravindra Singh, Ajay Kushwaha, Sanjay Singh, and State General Secretary Rajesh Dangi.
The wave of resignations seems to stem from internal discontent within the party, with allegations emerging about ticket distribution being influenced by financial considerations.
Expressing disappointment over the party’s decision, former MP Renu Kushwaha remarked, “Tickets should be allocated to dedicated party members rather than outsiders. Granting tickets to external candidates implies a lack of capable individuals within the party. Are we mere laborers for the party, expected to toil without recognition?”
In protest against being denied tickets, former MLA and National General Secretary of LJP declared that the dissident LJP leaders will now throw their support behind the INDIA bloc.
“When critical elections like these are underway, the LJP leadership has bestowed tickets upon undeserving candidates, leaving party workers dismayed. Those who tirelessly chanted slogans in support of Chirag Paswan and envisioned a ‘new Bihar’ feel betrayed. To safeguard the nation’s interests, we must back the INDIA alliance now,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, the LJP’s Organization Secretary Ravindra Singh accused Chirag Paswan of “selling the tickets.”
“Chirag Paswan has played with the emotions of the people of Bihar. After obtaining five seats through our efforts, he sold all of them. The people of Bihar will respond to him accordingly,” Singh stated.
It’s worth noting that the Lok Janshakti Party is contesting five out of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar – Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagaria, and Jamui.
Bihar is scheduled to conduct polling in seven phases, beginning on April 19 and concluding on June 1.
