India and Pakistan emerged victorious in the inaugural editions of the ICC T20 World Cup. India secured the title by defeating Pakistan in the final of the 2007 ICC World T20, while two years later, Pakistan triumphed over Sri Lanka to clinch their maiden ICC World T20 crown. The arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, are set to face each other on June 9 during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The highly anticipated match will be held at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Placed together in group A alongside Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA, India and Pakistan will vie for supremacy. This fixture marks the eighth encounter between the two teams in the ICC T20 World Cup, with India emerging victorious in five out of seven matches played previously. Pakistan’s sole victory against India in the tournament came during the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Leading the Indian squad will be Rohit Sharma, while Babar Azam will captain the Pakistani side.

The Pakistani squad for the T20 World Cup comprises: Babar Azam (C), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Usman Khan.
The last encounter between India and Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup occurred at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the 2022 edition. Pakistan posted a total of 159/8 batting first, but India chased down the target, courtesy of an unbeaten 82 by Virat Kohli.
Despite facing defeat against India in the group stages, Babar Azam’s team progressed to the final, where they were defeated by England led by Jos Buttler.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be available for free streaming on mobile phones in India via the Disney+ Hotstar app. The tournament commences with the first match between the US and Canada on June 2, 2024, at 6 am IST. The ninth edition of the tournament will be held in the West Indies and the US, featuring 20 teams competing across 55 games.
