Over the weekend, Ladakh experienced a comprehensive shutdown as a multitude of individuals protested in sub-zero temperatures. The demonstrators called for statehood and constitutional safeguards for the Union Territory (UT). The protesters advocated for Ladakh’s incorporation into the Constitution’s Sixth Schedule, which offers special provisions for tribal regions. Additionally, the demands encompassed aspects such as employment security, environmental safeguards, and the allocation of two Parliamentary seats for Ladakh.
