This year in Karnataka, two fatalities have been reported due to Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), also known as monkey fever. This tick-borne illness, typically transmitted to monkeys, is caused by the KFD virus. Symptoms typically manifest after an incubation period of 3-8 days, beginning with chills, fever, and headache. Subsequently, individuals may experience severe muscle pain, vomiting, gastrointestinal issues, and bleeding problems approximately 3-4 days after the onset of initial symptoms.
