BCCI selectors are expected to announce India’s squad on Friday for the remaining three Tests of the home series against England, with a focus on managing Jasprit Bumrah’s workload and monitoring the recovery of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja from their injuries that sidelined them from the second Test. Originally scheduled for Thursday, the selection committee’s meeting will now take place on Friday, as per Cricbuzz reports.
Managing the workload of bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who recently became the world’s No. 1 Test bowler after his impactful performance in the second Test in Visakhapatnam, is set to be a key topic of discussion in the meeting. With the series tied at 1-1, the potential replacement of Bumrah by Mohammed Siraj is under re-evaluation, given Bumrah’s crucial role in India’s resurgence after losing the opening Test. The decision regarding whether Bumrah will be rested or retained in the squad for the next Test in Rajkot remains to be seen.
Regarding the recovery status of Rahul and Jadeja, Rahul seems likely to make a comeback to the squad, while Jadeja’s inclusion depends on the evaluation of his hamstring injury by the team management, as per the Cricbuzz report. However, it is expected that the squad will continue to miss Virat Kohli, who had previously withdrawn himself from the first two Tests due to personal reasons.
