On Saturday, Election Commissioner Arun Goel tendered his resignation before the impending Lok Sabha elections. President Droupadi Murmu has acknowledged his resignation, as per a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice. Goel, a retired Punjab-cadre IAS officer, had taken up the role of Election Commissioner in November 2022. His tenure was scheduled to continue until 2027.
