The US House of Representatives has approved a bill requiring ByteDance, the Chinese owner of TikTok, to sell the US assets of the popular short-video app, which is used by approximately 170 million Americans, within about six months or risk being banned. This legislation, prompted by national security worries, was passed by a vote of 352-65 and is now headed to the Senate for consideration.
