When questioned about India’s position on cryptocurrencies, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated on Friday that the government’s stance is that cryptocurrencies cannot be considered as currencies. She further elaborated that assets created under the umbrella of crypto can be utilized for trading, profit-making, and various other purposes. Sitharaman emphasized that cryptocurrencies have not been regulated in the past, and the government’s stance remains unchanged in the present.
