The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), a branch of the United Nations, has designated the period from 2014 to 2023 as the warmest decade ever recorded. In its ‘State of the Global Climate 2023’ report, WMO Secretary-General Celeste Saulo stated, “The WMO community is issuing a red alert to the world.” She further remarked, “Heatwaves, floods, droughts, wildfires, and intense tropical cyclones caused widespread devastation across all continents.”
