Meet the Youngest Candidates, All 25, Who Won Lok Sabha Polls To Become MPs

At the age of 25, four candidates have emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha elections and are set to become the youngest Members of Parliament.

  • Pushpendra Saroj: Representing the Samajwadi Party (SP), Pushpendra won the Kaushambi seat by defeating the incumbent BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar by 103,944 votes. He is the son of five-time MLA and former Uttar Pradesh Minister Inderjit Saroj.
  • Priya Saroj: Also from the Samajwadi Party, Priya won the Machhlishahr seat, defeating the sitting BJP MP Bholanath by 35,850 votes. She is the daughter of three-time MP Toofani Saroj.
  • Shambhavi Choudhary: Fielded by the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Shambhavi won the Samastipur constituency, defeating Sunny Hazari of the Congress by a comfortable margin. Shambhavi is the daughter of Ashok Choudhary, a minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet in Bihar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had highlighted her as the youngest NDA candidate during his campaign rally.
  • Sanjana Jatav: Representing the Congress, Sanjana won from the Bharatpur constituency in Rajasthan by defeating BJP’s Ramswaroop Koli by 51,983 votes. Previously, she had narrowly lost the 2023 Assembly elections to BJP’s Ramesh Khedi by just 409 votes. Sanjana is married to Kaptan Singh, a Rajasthan police constable.

These young leaders have made a significant mark by securing seats in the Lok Sabha, demonstrating the increasing involvement of youth in Indian politics.
