In the United States, two non-fiction authors, Nicholas Basbanes and Nicholas Gage, have filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft, accusing them of improperly utilizing their works to train AI models, including ChatGPT and other AI-based services. The authors allege that the tech companies utilized their copyrighted material as part of the data employed in training OpenAI’s GPT large language model. Previously, the New York Times had also sued OpenAI on grounds of copyright infringement.
